Welcome

Antfarm is a unique cocoon that hosts a cooperative
group of artists who enjoy a great deal of freedom
to develop artistic expression and sustainability.
Together, we form a supportive & nurturing environment
where we utilize each other’s talents & energies to
foster growth and further our education. Antfarm strives to
create exceptional work and share it with the community.

The Story

Vines growing through a window

Antfarm was started in 1993 by a group of NC State design school students who secured and renovated a 1925 warehouse in Raleigh’s historic Boylan Heights neighborhood.

The Space

A space waiting for a new member

The space is very open and ripe for customization to each member’s unique needs. We have the BEST daylight, but no air conditioning. No a/c means we get to enjoy some wildlife, such as house geckos and a brood of wrens each spring.

The Support

The openness of the studio allows for cross pollination of ideas and sharing. Our current members practice in the disciplines of sculpture, installation, ceramics, music, and metal smithing/fabrication.

Success! You're on the list.

For the great doesn’t happen through impulse alone, and is a succession of little things that are brought together.
